Former High Plains Student Named National Merit Finalist

Congratulations to Rachael McReynolds from Mountain View High School, who was named a National Merit Finalist.

“Thank you to my parents and teachers for guiding me! They are very dedicated, and they push me to try my best.”

2nd & 3rd Grade HPS Hoedown

Our 2nd and 3rd graders absolutely SHINED in front of a full house at the High Plains Hoedown! From toe-tappin’ tunes in music to various creative projects in art, energetic square-dancing from P.E., innovative sheriff badge creations and WANTED posters, to professional and enthusiastic narrations perfected in the library... our students showed off just how much they’ve grown this year.

The teamwork, confidence, and joy on that stage (and throughout the building!) were something special. The Square Dusters Club (out of Fort Collins) came to teach all 2nd and 3rd graders how to properly square dance ahead of the big show, thanks to Mrs. Jones. Mr. Joe shared his passion for Western rodeos and even tried something new by performing on the washboard with middle school percussionists on spoons. The HPS choir dazzled as a feature during the show. Middle school students took ownership by volunteering their time in many ways (running lights, curtains, selling croc charms, setting up, and tearing down). Thursday night, the stage came alive with tumbleweeds, an ostrich, and even a bucking bronco. A huge thank you to our amazing specials team for collaborating on such a fun, meaningful event—and to our families for your continued support. We couldn’t do it without you!
